The 2025 STEP LatAm Conference, of which Crestbridge Fiduciary was a sponsor, once again tackled a range of key issues pertinent to wealthy multi-jurisdictional families, from the impact of social media and the importance of reputation management to recent developments in the US and the impact of global geopolitics.
With an emphasis on updating cross-border wealth planning techniques for Latin American families, the event – held in Mexico City on 4-5 September and attended by senior lawyers, accounting professionals, bankers and trust and investment advisors - included a broad range of discussions, keynote presentations and roundtable sessions.
Key topics explored by speakers included how to effectively plan where there are US connections, such as US-based children, against the backdrop of US market developments; the challenges of preserving family wealth across multiple generations; and the management of reputation as a valuable strategic asset.
Attending the event from Crestbridge Fiduciary were Steve Sokić, Chairman, and Darrell King, Managing Director, Americas.
Commenting on the event, Steve Sokić said:
“This year’s STEP LatAm Conference was another really well attended event that was firmly focused on the planning opportunities and challenges affecting wealthy Latin American families living in Latin America and globally. Discussions on recent shifts in the US market and their impact on families with a US touch-point were particularly pertinent and aligned with what we are also seeing. Various risks continue to be highlighted and debated, including the need to be on the front foot as to help ensure mitigation of family reputational risks, particularly in this age of social media, misinformation, etc. Finally, whilst a large conference, it’s also a small community in many ways, and it was great to see so many friends and colleagues again."
Darrell King added:
“Once again, this year’s Conference brought together almost 600 leading private client professionals from Latin America, the US and further afield. It was a great opportunity to learn and to collaborate, and to explore the trends shaping our industry. In particular, the challenge of generational transition and wealth preservation featured prominently this year, with speakers providing fascinating insights into the future direction of private client practice.”
